Social welfare quality

To be able to fulfill your studies, you need a good environment to study in and a secure social situation. Jönköping Student union is an important part when it comes to improve these conditions. Through local, regional and national lobbying the student Union work to improve the everyday life for students.
The study environment is both physical and mental; it’s both the place where you study as well as your relationship with your friends and teachers. A good study environment is about feeling good about your situation and not having any obstacles which may affect your results. Your economical situation and social activities also play a big part in how you feel about your time at Jönköping University.

In cooperation with Studenthälsan (Student Healthcare)Jönköping Student Union constantly work to improve the wellbeing and health of the students, both mentally as well as physically. The work revolves around preventing and treating all illnesses, alcohol abuse, stress and also general wellbeing.
Kick off and sponsorship
One of Jönköping Student union’s main tasks is welcoming new students to Jönköping University. This includes introducing new students to the university and the city, as well as creating a good environment for the new students to get to know each other and the old students. Every year Jönköping Student union trains fathers/sponsors (fadder in Swedish) who is responsible for the new students during the kick off. They are trained in leadership, cooperation, first aid and social relations between students. The kick off, or welcome week as it is also known, can have different forms depending on which specialist school you are studying at and which of the student sections that is responsible for your kick off.

All kick offs have two things in common and that is the Academic introduction day and SWE, Student Water Event. The Academic introduction is just what it sounds like, an introduction to the academic world and everything that comes with it. SWE is a big pool party at the public swimming hall.
